It all started way back in 2005 as a concept of making iconic American snack foods better for you. It was a holistic mission to provide options to consumers that were less evil than what they were used to purchasing. Before we launched a potato chip we largely stayed away from anything that was cooked in oil. We prided ourselves on air-popping our popcorn (which we still believe is the best and tastiest way to make popcorn) and we puffed a bean chip in hot air that was higher in protein and lower in fat. But as we fine-tuned our approach to creating our chips we really realized from our customers that snacking is all about flavor, and while a bean chip is nice idea, it just is not indulgent enough. In some instances we were making snacks we thought our customers should eat not what they really wanted. While the roots of the company featured snacks that were lower in fat and calories, we began to realize that customers thought some fat was ok and snacking was not all about apples and celery with almond butter. It was about not being perfect and what we should care about is providing customer’s products they want and love and take those products and make them with the best, organic, non-genetically modified ingredients. We think they taste better too.

Organic High Oleic Sunflower Oil

Although most people are already familiar with sunflowers, those vibrant beautiful flowers that can be found all over the world, many people don’t immediately think of sunflowers as sources of an extremely healthy vegetable oil that can replace some of the less healthy cooking oils on the market. One of the primary reasons for the growing popularity of sunflower oil is its impressive fatty acid content, which includes palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. We think high oleic organic sunflower oil is the best oil to cook potato chips on the planet. We did look at organic coconut oil to cook the chips in, because we love the oil, but the oil losses its composition too quickly to cook potato chips in. Organic sun is the way to go.

Organic Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is popular among the health conscious for its supposed greater health benefits than other vinegars. While both regular vinegar and apple cider vinegar have potential medicinal uses, many contend that apple cider vinegar is more potent, particularly in the areas of controlling blood sugar levels and weight loss, as a remedy to some skin conditions, allergies, and by boosting the immune system. It is also attributed to have positive effects on reducing high bad cholesterol levels and lower blood pressure. While we don’t contend you are going to get many health benefits from it on a potato chip, it is a much better ingredient.
