LesserEvil Revive 45 Challenge

Ending 2020 strong. Starting 2021 stronger!

We keep hearing that we’re in for a dark winter. It’s understandable why it might seem that way; when it feels like the world is going crazy, it’s easy to believe that nothing is within our control.
But this doesn’t have to be the case! Amazing things are possible when we take time to focus on the things we can control. And with many of the activities that keep us so busy put on hold, many of us finally have that time.

We also need to remember that as we begin to wrangle this virus under control, sunshine is just around the corner. If the spring and summer of 2021 is the time of resurgence we think it will be, we only have a few months left to devote entirely to ourselves. Why not put ourselves in the best position to burst out of the gates? It’s through our toughest challenges that we grow the most as people, so let’s get ready to show the world how resilient we’ve been.

To encourage our awesome LesserEvil community to foster this personal strength, we’re instituting a 45-day challenge, to begin at the start of the New Year. We’ve designed this challenge as a tool to build not only physical health, but also good habits and self-discipline for the year to come. Self-discipline develops self-esteem, which ultimately adds greatly to our happiness, and because it’s often said that we are the sum of our habits, we’re suggesting some healthy ones to get you started. 

That said, we know that everyone is different; we all have diverse needs and priorities. So our challenge is tough, but realistic: it includes 3 daily mandatory activities, plus a selection of smaller tasks. To complete the LesserEvil Revive 45 Challenge, check off the 3 mandatory items, plus 3 items of your choosing every day for 45 days. If you miss any items on any day, you must start the challenge over again! This is to encourage you to stick with it and build that self-discipline.

We’ll be starting the challenge on January 1st, but you’ll be able to officially sign up until the 13th. To register, follow THIS link to submit your email address.

We’ll check in on March 1st to see if you’ve successfully completed the 45 days! If you have, we’ll send you a special Revive 45 Challenge t-shirt and a case of snacks. We’re not requiring proof, just your honest word that you’ve done it. After all, the challenge is about YOU.

The LesserEvil Revive 45 Challenge 

Mandatory Daily Items 

  • Complete 50 minutes of exercise 

Yes, everyday! Aim for something moderately vigorous. Active rest days of walking or yoga encouraged.

  • Drink at least 10 cups of water

With 8 ounces in a cup, that’s 80 ounces per day.

  • Follow a healthy, whole foods, very low-sugar diet

Sugar in fruits and vegetables is okay. No alcohol or cheat meals allowed!

(Pick at least 3! The same 3 must be performed every day for the whole challenge.)


  • Wake up 1 hour earlier than usual 

But aim for 7-8 hours of sleep. Early to bed, early to rise!

  • Write down 3 things you’re grateful for first thing in the morning 

You can buy a gratitude journal for this, or just use any notebook.


  • Fill up two pages of a journal with whatever you are thinking

This is a free-writing, creative exercise that shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes.

  • Meditate for 10 minutes

The free app Insight Timer is great for this.

  • Devote 20 minutes to a new pursuit or hobby 

Duolingo, learning to knit, playing chess…

  • Repeat an inspiring mantra 108 times 

The number 108 is considered sacred. Take Ram Dass’s mantra, “I am loving awareness,” as an example.

  • Read a book for 20 minutes uninterrupted

We love self-improvement books here, but choose whatever allows you to unplug.

  • Go for a 30-minute walk after dinner

The latest studies show that we should aim for 7500 steps per day.

  • Write a note to tell someone how much they mean to you.

Handwritten is best, but if you pick this item to do every day, email is okay!
