Mission: Sustainable

We believe that caring for the planet is a responsibility that all of us should share. We also believe that companies are the ones who really need to step it up!

In the 21st century, sustainability has become something of a buzzword, a term many companies use to display eco-consciousness without necessarily taking actions to reflect that concern. But sustainability should be taken seriously as a vital component of the earth’s health. Sustainability means meeting the needs of people today in a way that doesn’t come at the expense of our needs of tomorrow by depleting the earth’s natural resources. Sustainability also plays an integral role in the fight against climate change.

While individual actions, such as recycling and limiting food waste, are certainly important, the bulk of responsibility for the future health of the planet falls on large companies lessening their footprints. LesserEvil may be a small company, but we’re mighty in our mission to be a leader in the world of sustainable food.

We hold ourselves to a high standard of environmental stewardship. Sustainability is not just a catchy word to us; it’s something we’ve built into every step of our process ever since we made the decision in 2012 to stop working with co-packers and open our own factory. For us, sustainability begins at the farms we partner with, continues with energy efficiency initiatives at our factory and warehouse, and ends with packaging solutions that create less waste.
