Salty & Sweet Dessert Charcuterie Bouquet

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate your loved ones by wowing them with this festive and fun Salty & Sweet Dessert Charcuterie Bouquet! It’s easy to make your own by picking your favorite treats, but whatever you do, don’t skip the star of the display, aka LesserEvil’s Sweetheart Pop.

Charcuterie Run Down

It’s no secret that boards of all kinds have taken the world by storm. The classic charcuterie, which if you didn’t know is based around cured meats, has since taken the shape of different themes from food type to certain shapes to holiday specific and everything in between. Today we’re going to give you all of the tips you need to make a seasonal charcuterie display to celebrate with your favorite Galentine’s or Valentine’s alike.

What I Used

In order to make this display mimic a floral arrangement, I thought of what foods could be made to look like flowers and greenery, added texture, and also stayed in line with a Valentine’s themed color story.

Here is a list of what I used:

  • Brown Wrapping Paper
  • Spinach Leaves
  • Apples
  • Lollipops
  • Pretzels
  • Raspberry Dark Chocolate Squares
  • LesserEvil Sweetheart Pop Popcorn
  • Green Grapes
  • Strawberries
  • Chocolate Covered Almonds
  • Valentine’s Day Gummies
  • Pink Cotton Candy
  • Candy Hearts
  • Rose Wine
  • Raspberries

Food Meets Florals:

You’ll see in the photos that some of the elements in the Salty & Sweet Dessert Charcuterie Bouquet were made to replicate the look of florals, greens and even hearts.

Here is what is included in this display so you can replicate it at home:

  • Brown Wrapping Paper: folded and taped to look like floral wrapping which also hides where the stems would be
  • Spinach Leaves: arranged to mimic floral leaves, greenery and also peak out of the bottom of the paper wrapping to give the illusion of stems
  • Apples: thinly sliced and formed into the shade of a heart
  • Lollipops: filled the space that flower fillers would and added contrast through shape and texture
  • LesserEvil Sweetheart Pop Popcorn: added texture, filled space and looked similar to baby’s breath in a floral arrangement
  • Green Grapes: acted as greenery or flower filler and added texture through the cluster of circles
  • Strawberries: carefully cut around the outside to act as roses which were laid on the side and on their stem for different vantage points
  • Pink Cotton Candy: rolled into the shape of roses
  • Raspberries in Rose: looked like mini hearts floating in the wine and played off of the color scheme

Make it Your Own!

Considering the above note about choosing foods that provide a floral look and add texture, feel free to use your favorite snacks and make it your own! You can easily tweak the ingredient list to meet whatever your dietary needs may be as well.

 How To Assemble:

1. Prep and organize all of your ingredients first so that your assembly is not overwhelming.

  • slice your apples, cut the strawberry roses, create small grape clusters, roll the cotton candy, unwrap the lollipops, find the non broken pretzels, etc

2. Using a square piece of paper, whether it’s wrapping paper or a brown paper bag, roll into a bouquet wrap shape and tape the inside so it stays in place and the tape isn’t seen.

3. Place spinach steams out the bottom to appear as floral stems.

4. Place spinach leaves out the top of the paper wrap to mimic leaves and greenery.

5. Start assembling! While you can’t go wrong, here are some tips:

  • Separate similar colors and shapes for contrast
  • Fill smaller spaces with smaller pieces such as nuts or popcorn
  • Stick to a color scheme to make it feel more realistic

Have fun with it!
